Thousands of years ago, God had a plan for a man named Abram. God spoke to Abram and told him to take his wife, leave their home, and start on a journey to a land God would show him. God promised Abram He would make him into a great nation, bless him, and make him famous.
God kept every promise He made to Abram!
God changed Abram’s name to Abraham, which means “father of many” or “father of nations.” He changed Sarai’s name to Sarah and said that Abraham and Sarah would have a son.
This seemed like an impossible promise, because Abraham was 99 years old, and Sarah was 89! They had never been able to have kids.
But God is larger than any problem we face in life! When Sarah was 90 and Abraham was 100, they had a son! He grew up and had 2 sons, and his son Jacob had 12 sons! They became the nation of Israel.
Many years later, Jesus was born into Abraham’s family. Jesus never sinned, but He died to take the punishment for our sin. God blessed all the families on the earth through Abraham, just like He promised!
